BUILD
The Velmare Vagabond 47 is a spacious, live-aboard, centre cockpit cruising ketch with three cabins, including a large owners aft cabin plus saloon and two heads. Large deck space and a deep sheltered cockpit.
Designed and built by Cantiere Velmare SNC in Donoratico, Italy in 1981
commissioned Feb 1982.

CONSTRUCTION
White GRP hull, deck with non-skid panels and deck saloon. Laid teak on cockpit floor. Interior joinery of varnished mahogany and mahogany faced marine plywood interior joinery. Long fin keel with encapsulated ballast. Skeg hung rudder with wheel steering.

MECHANICS
Ford 80 HP four cylinder fresh water heat exchanger cooled diesel engine. Flex mounts. Electric start. Single lever controls. Direct shaft drive to a three blade fixed pitch propeller through a hydraulic reduction gearbox with reverse.
Fisher Panda generator
Vetus bow thruster.

TANKAGE
2 x 300 litre steel fuel tanks.
2 x 600 litre GRP fresh water tanks.

SPARS AND RIGGING
Bermudan ketch rig with silver anodised alloy deck stepped main mast, mizzen, slab reefing main boom, plain mizzen and spinnaker pole. Gybe preventer on main boom.

NAV EQUIPMENT
Raytheon ST60 Wind speed/ direction.
Raytheon ST60 log / speed.
Raytheon ST60 echo sounder.
Rudder indicator
At nav station Garmin 128 GPS.
Neco autopilot.
Furuno radar.
12/240v distribution panel.

DECK EQUIPMENT
Alloy framed fixed cockpit windscreen with red hood and zip up back curtain with window to hood. 4 x alloy framed acrylic deck hatches. Alloy heavy duty mooring bollards and fairleads fore and aft, X section mainsheet track with traveller and adjusting tackles, mizzen track with traveller and headsail sheet tracks with roller cars. Stainless steel pulpit, stanchion bases, bathing platform, solar vent in aft companionway hatch and sternguard with gate and outboard storage bracket.Stainless steel rails on coachroof.
Mercury 5HP outboard motor and inflatable dinghy with wood sole boards.

ACCOMODATION
For six people saloon. Approx 1.9m headroom. Eberspracher diesel fired hot air heating system. Air conditioning outlet in saloon.

From fwd – Storage compartment with shelves which we can convert into a place that’s great for the kids. Fwd twin cabin to stbd with upper and lower bunks, hanging locker and drawers. Second twin cabin to port fwd with upper and lower bunks, hanging locker and drawers. Fwd head to stbd with s/steel sink, h&c pressure water, shower, teak shower grating, storage cupboard and electrical toilet. Steps up to deck saloon with L shaped dinette and table to port and settee, table and nav station to stbd. Nav station has large chart table, chart stowage and swing out navigatorʼs seat on s/steel bracket. Galley is aft of saloon to stbd with steps down to it, 2 x stainless steel sinks, H&C pressure water, Smev four burner s/steel gimballed gas cooker with oven / grill, front opening fridge and plenty of stowage. Steps down from saloon to port walk through “passage cabin” to aft cabin with upper and lower storage, storage drawers, hanging locker and engine room access door. Large aft cabin with good size double berth, L shaped settee, seat, steps giving direct access to cockpit, large hanging locker, storage drawers and en suite head with electrical toilet, s/steel sink, H&C pressure water, shower, teak shower grating and storage cupboard.
